It’s really quite an odd term, but one that absolutely fits… at least in my head. It came to me as I was viewing this Studio 90 video of the beginning of the men’s Olympic training in China on the official us soccer site. The greatest part about watching American youth teams play in this [...]
Good evening folks. Tonight is the night the Houston Dynamo takes on Pachuca in the SuperLiga semifinals. Can the Dynamo finally beat their rivals from Mexico? Will Miguel Calero work his magic yet again? If you will be watching tonight's match (10pm, Telefutura), please feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and some play-by-play in the comments section below. I will try to do some running commentary on the match but can't promise it yet. Enjoy the match.Ives Galarcep
Technically, Monday's RSL-Toronto match was in Week 19 of the MLS schedule, but that doesn't really make sense. Playing a Monday night match doesn't make sense either but that's what went down in Utah last night.
Anyway, that caused a minor ripple effect out here as we waited for the fifth of five matches in a two-day span to be played out before handing out or weekly kudos.

July is almost over, but the Wizards don't have another game until August. In the month of July, the Wizards went 1-0-3 in league. Add in a win and a draw in the US Open Cup and the Wizards were undefeated with a 2-0-4 record in the month of July. Unlike June, there are plenty of people with stats and play this month that could be considered for the Player of the Month award. Here are the candidates I considered.
Claudio Lopez - The Wizards DP had 2 assists in league play, but added another goal and assist to his total in the US Open Cup. Combine that with his continued play on the field and it's been a productive month.
Davy Arnaud - Arnaud had a goal and an assist in the month of July, and has returned to his regular high energy play that we came to expect from him before his off season surgery. read more »

Have you heard the supporters clubs chant “Ricky Bobby” when William Hesmer makes a save? Sunday’s game in Denver gave definitive proof: William Hesmer pisses excellence.
Hesmer was credited with 7 saves, with the 2 best coming in the 12th and 90th minutes. He was clearly the man of the [...]
Superliga is back! The semifinals kick off tonight at 10pm eastern and you can watch the games here in English. And view the Semifinals scoreboard here.
How appropriate that we'd receive a pretty good Superliga rumor. We call this good due to the fact that we like it and hope that it happens, not that we think it is probable. Indeed by the submitter's own admission he rates it a 1.5 on a 10 point scale. read more »

There have been multiple reports today saying that Kenny Cooper is staying. Perhaps he is is staying for the time being but as anyone who follows football transfers knows, the price is always negotiable. Could this be FC Dallas's way of saying, "Give us another 2M and it's a deal?". Possibly. There's also the possibility that he sticks around just long enough for his value to go up before the end of the season and goes during the winter transfer window. read more »
This report comes to us courtesy of a loyal MLSR Reader. We will prepare for the jokes that are likely to come from you guys about Dallas bringing in a forward whose last club's name began with "KFC".
It looks like FC Dallas is trying to tap the newest hotspot for MLS talent, The Gambia.
According to this report in the Gambia Daily Observer the 24 year old Gambian national team striker is headed to Pizza Hut Park. Here is an excerpt:

Gambia and SK Lierse striker, Assan Jatta, commonly known as Bierhoff, is currently on a 10-day trial with the American Major League Soccer club, FC Dallas, Observer Sports can reveal.
Just a quick update from the story we brought you this morning on Pat Noonan. According to Ives Galarcep at SBI, Noonan has re-signed with the league in a deal expected to be finalized in the coming days. MLS is still finalizing transfer details with Norwegian side Aalesunds, which still had Noonan under contract. Once that [...]
