Photos by ISIphotos.com Somebody stop Real Salt Lake. No, really. RSL won another home game last week, beating Toronto FC on a late Robbie Findley goal last week to move four points clear of the pack in the Western Conference. Jason Kreis' squad is off this weekend as it prepares for a tough stretch of road games, which will allow some of the other West teams to try and close the gap. New England keeps its hold on the top spot as it downed Atlante to reach the SuperLiga final. Columbus is keeping the pressure on after its impressive win...Ives Galarcep
Toronto FC has unloaded out-of-favor forward Jeff Cunningham to FC Dallas for a third-round draft pick. The deal ends weeks of speculation about Cunningham's future after his well-publicized falling out with Toronto FC head coach John Carver. Cunningham has struggled mightily for Toronto this year, scoring three goals in 16 matches and failing to show the form that has helped him score 99 career goals in MLS. He joins an FC Dallas team that boasts star forward Kenny Cooper, but also has speedy option Dominic Oduro as well as reserve forward Abe Thompson.Ives Galarcep
What in the blue hell is going on in Chicago? I get home from practice and see that the score is already 1-0 Chicago and New England is already a man down?!?
While I'm getting settled, Chicago scored one of the more ridiculous goals I've seen to take a 2-0 lead. Great ball from Blanco that Barrett turns into an adventure. Parkhurst makes a great pass to the new Polish striker for Chicago and he trickles the ball over the line.
Memo to the Chicago fans: Can we stop with the White Stripes "Seven Nation Army" chant? There's been plenty of other songs that could work for that sort of thing, with plenty of them released in the last five years. read more »
In a year when the Eastern Conference has owned its Western Conference counterparts in intra-conference player, Real Salt Lake has done its part to try and stem the imbalance. After wins against New England and Columbus, RSL has added Toronto FC to its list of Eastern Conference conquests with its 2-1 victory on Monday. The victory increased Real Salt Lake's hold on first place in the West to four points (though Houston has two games in hand) and kept RSL unbeaten at Rice-Eccles Stadium this year (6-0-5). Toronto's offensive struggles continued as TFC failed once again to receive production from...Ives Galarcep
The MLS Player of the Week award has already been handed out by Major League Soccer, which honored Landon Donovan for his two-goal performance for Los Angeles against Houston. While Donovan is a worthy recepient, he doesn't get SBI's vote for this week's player of the week award. SBI MLS Player of the Week honors goes to San Jose midfielder Ronnie O'Brien, whose goal and assist helped the Earthquakes post their first win of the year in a 2-0 shock upset of Colorado. How is that performance not worthy of player of the week? Helping lead a team to an...Ives Galarcep

It wasn't pretty, but you can call the scoreless tie between the Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake a fair result. It figured that no goals would be scored when the league's two toughest defense squared off, but seeing so many missed chances was still a bit puzzling. read more »
Good afternoon everybody. Today is the day folks in Chicago and the New York/New Jersey area have been waiting for. The Chicago Fire and New York Red Bulls square off in an Eastern Conference clash that has a bit more on the line than just three points. I know, I know, you didn't hear anything from either side that even remotely sounded like there was bad blood here, or that this game had a little extra in it. Don't be fooled. Both sides want this one more than most and there is going to be an intense atmosphere around this...Ives Galarcep
The fans at RFK Stadium came to sing on Thursday night. They cheered, chanted and implored D.C. United to deliver the kind of performance they had grow accustomed to over the years. That performance never came.Instead, D.C. sleepwalked through yet another lifeless effort, succumbing to a faster, more determined and more creative Chicago Fire squad that pushed its winning streak to three games with its 2-0 victory at RFK.This isn't how the year was supposed to be for D.C. An infusion of new talent was supposed to put D.C. over the top. Instead, D.C. read more »
Good evening foks. I'm coming to you from Washington D.C. I am in town for the Eastern Conference showdown between the Chicago Fire and D.C. United. It should be an exciting match and a chance to see if Chicago can keep its roll going and if D.C. United can turn around an ugly start to the season. The weather is ugly and drizzly, but that's okay, D.C. is still one of the best road trips in the league. I will be back when I get to RFK Stadium but for now you can feel free to discuss tonight's match. Share...Ives Galarcep
