Some interesting tidbits from here that I will post in a bit. What I was able to get done today was the rest of the Q&A session from a few weeks ago. It took a while but I was able to polish them off today. So here they are, they rest of your questions answered:---------------------ADAM- Any idea how serious NYRB will take the Carolina RailHawks game, considering it's their last game before MLS? read more »
What to do when a club which has won more hardware alone than all other MLS clubs combined is coming apart at the seams and suffering loss after loss with no end in sight? read more »
Could the Canaries star be headed to RFK Stadium?
Normally we would rate this rumor as a two as it comes to us from an anonymous email source supposedly in Nottingham, England and related to someone close the player in question.
Here it is in it's entirety:
Hello,
I wish to remain anonymous but I can assure you that I am in a position to know the things I'm about to relate to you as I reside in Nottingham, England and am related to someone who knows Darren quite well.
What in the blue hell is going on in Chicago? I get home from practice and see that the score is already 1-0 Chicago and New England is already a man down?!?
While I'm getting settled, Chicago scored one of the more ridiculous goals I've seen to take a 2-0 lead. Great ball from Blanco that Barrett turns into an adventure. Parkhurst makes a great pass to the new Polish striker for Chicago and he trickles the ball over the line.
Memo to the Chicago fans: Can we stop with the White Stripes "Seven Nation Army" chant? There's been plenty of other songs that could work for that sort of thing, with plenty of them released in the last five years. read more »
Photo by ISIphotos.com D.C. United is on fire. When D.C. and Los Angeles took the field on Sunday it was supposed to be a battle between two of the most in-form teams in MLS. It was never that close. D.C. showed off its suddenly unstoppable attack in shredding a Galaxy defense that showed it wasn't quite past the problems that plagued it earlier this year. This past weekend was a weekend of comebacks. Ben Olsen made an emotional return to action, seeing his first playing time of the year, while Taylor Twellman made his return from injury for New England....Ives Galarcep
We have all heard the old saying; that a Captain goes down with his sinking ship. A captain is ultimately responsible for the actions of his crew, regardless of what they do. Hell, Captain Kirk even took responsibility for the actions of his crew in Star Trek VI. In sports, we have the manager/coach of the team that seems to always go down with his sinking team. Coaches get fired routinely in baseball, soccer, football, basketball and such. Usually you cannot go a month into a sports season without some reporter printing a story that already lists those coaches/managers that are already on the hot seat. MLS is no different. DC United is suffering, if not sinking. read more »
The news that Ben Olsen would be out 4-8 weeks, just days after his inspirational return to the pitch, is naturally heartbreaking. But after discussing his Dick's sporting Goods commercial, we wondered how he felt he would be after his surgery. Would he still have the moves that he casually announced to Brian Ching and Christian Gomez? What other moves does Ben Olsen have that he can bring back to the pitch in his return? read more »
...see, because I waited 'til Tuesday for this post responding to reader comments. I know! You were expecting some cheesy Super Tuesday joke, not an Aimee Mann 1980s anti domestic violence sub reference. I shall leave the Super Tuesday type posts to those more fit to make them. read more »
Good evening foks. I'm coming to you from Washington D.C. I am in town for the Eastern Conference showdown between the Chicago Fire and D.C. United. It should be an exciting match and a chance to see if Chicago can keep its roll going and if D.C. United can turn around an ugly start to the season. The weather is ugly and drizzly, but that's okay, D.C. is still one of the best road trips in the league. I will be back when I get to RFK Stadium but for now you can feel free to discuss tonight's match. Share...Ives Galarcep
